Cooking class
Immerse yourselves in the art of social cooking and get inspired as our island-chef teaches you how to prepare exciting dishes focused on seasonal fresh vegetables and bonfire cooking.

Ungdomsøen offers a unique setting for an extraordinary evening — perfect for your networking event or after-work meeting.
In January, February, March, and April, we offer free erry transport to and from Ungdomsøen on selected Wednesdays. We have arranged a ferry so you can combine your meeting with a cozy boat trip from Nyhavn. Send your preferred dates to booking@ungdomsoen.dk.

Hidden deep within the old fortress and nestled among the island’s rolling landscape, you’ll find bright halls, meeting rooms, and dining areas. The island also offers several smaller, rustic rooms and old gun emplacements suitable for workshops, or you can gather in our beautifully newly established amphitheater. The Hangar
Our largest room at Ungdomsøen is located in the middle of the island. The hangar consists of two large compartments connected by three large openings in the dividing wall. The two rooms can be combined for larger events with many participants or divided by a curtain if you want to use the space for different purposes like dinner, meeting, groupwork or an assembly. One side of the hangar is all windows, which give the room a nice light, while screens and projectors are hung on the opposite wall for presentations. The hangar measures 230 m2 and can accommodate up to 200 participants in rows of chairs.
Hangar C has two projectors, two screens and a full speaker sound system.
The Rocket Workshop
The unique old rocket workshop, where memories of the island's past as part of Denmark's defense are still visible. The room has direct access to the outdoor terrain at the top of the island on one side and access to the fort's winding underground passages on the other. The room measures 110 m2 and can accommodate up to 90 participants in rows of chairs.
The rocket workshop has two projectors, two screens, a whiteboard and a full speaker sound system.
The dining halls
Ungdomsøen have four identical meeting rooms - that were once the young soldiers dining halls. The dining halls are placed side by side on the ground floor of the fortress, and they all have a large window with a view of the Sound and the offshore wind farm. Every dining room is about 5 x 10m and fits up to 30 people at tables or in rows of chairs. All dining rooms can be equipped with transportable screens, sound systems and flip-overs.
The Amphitheater
The amphitheater is built in the largest remaining cannon emplacement on the island. With a campfire in the center and seating for up to 200 people, the amphitheater is ideal for larger gatherings. You are fairly protected from the wind in the amphitheater and can gather for workshops, evaluations, presentations, concerts or campfire fun, with an amazing view of the Sound and the offshore wind farm.
The Artillery Workshop
The Artillery Workshop is one of our newest meeting rooms, renovated in 2024. Throughout its history it has had many purposes, amongst others being the repair shop for the military artillery back in the 1950's. The room has a cozy atmosphere with its stripped brick walls, arched ceiling and warm lights. This is the perfect space to host your meeting, workshop or an intimate dinner in rustic settings.
The Artillery Workshop can have up to 90 people in rows of chairs, and it is possible to add a transportable interactive screen with additional speaker sound system.
Dormitories
Wake up to the sound of the ocean in one of our dormitories. From the wooden platform by the window, you have the perfect view of the habour and Copenhagen.
Back in the day up to 40 soldiers used to sleep in hammocks in these dorms. Today they have been given a caring renovation, while still maintaining their history, as you might sense within their walls.
We have 15 dormitories with room for 2, 4, 8 or 10 people, a total of 124 indoor either single beds or bunk beds.

You can either sail yourselfThere is only one way to get to Ungdomsøen — by boat. But there are several ways to sail to Ungdomsøen. You can either sail yourself, take Spar Shipping's charming ferries from Nyhavn or book a high-speed, high-powered trip in a fast RIB boat.

At Ungdomsøen, we offer full catering for your day. Our skilled island chef prepares meals and snacks centering seasonal, local, and sustainable ingredients. We provide everything from breakfast, homemade cardamom buns, and reimagined danish 'smørrebrød' to social dinners, flavorful desserts, and cooking classes. When you enjoy a meal at Ungdomsøen, you are tasting the sustainable future of food.

Bringing your own food and beverages is not allowed. All meals must be ordered through Ungdomsøen, and drinks can be paid according to consumption during your event or purchased in our kiosk.

On a guided tour of Ungdomsøen, you’ll be led by a young guide with in-depth knowledge of the island. They will present Ungdomsøen from their perspective, share historical facts, and tell you about their own memories and dreams. Each tour is completely unique — even if you’ve joined one before, there’s always something new to discover on your next visit.

Historical Military Stratego
HISTORY, COMPETITION, PLAY
Dive into Ungdomsøen’s history as a military fortress through a game of capturing the enemy! You’ll be divided into two teams and must use tactics, teamwork, and speed to take over the opposing base and capture their flag. The game will take you across the island’s terrain while exploring its past as Middelgrundsfortet, with players taking on roles from the army, navy, and air force. Stratego can be played both indoors and outdoors, so wear practical clothing for moving around.
Our Historical Military Stratego was developed in collaboration with young people from Ungdomsøen’s community.
Group size: Minimum 20 people, maximum 60 people

Lasertag
COMPETITION, EXERCISE, STRATEGY
Are you ready for battle?! Lasertag is a high-intensity game that trains both your body and your teamwork skills. You’ll be divided into two teams and compete against each other in Ungdomsøen’s secret tunnels using laser guns. Each team is given a flag that the opposing team must try to capture without being hit by lasers. With adrenaline pumping through your body, you’ll explore the best hiding spots in the old fortress while strengthening your team spirit. The activity takes place indoors, and it is advised to wear clothing suitable for active movement.
Group size: Minimum 10 people, maximum 35 people
Price: DKK 130 per person
Duration: Typically 1 to 1.5 hours

When you book your event at Ungdomsøen, you are also supporting the island as a safe haven for Danish youth. Thereby, you can be proud to say that you support the engagement of young people when you choose Ungdomsøen as the location for your next event, team day, or conference.
You’ll notice that, as a company (and adult), you pay a little more to use the island than groups young people under 30 years do. This allows us to make Ungdomsøen as accessible as possible for young people. The same applies when you book ferry tickets, rent rooms, or purchase a snack or cold drink at the kiosk. This is what we call Ungdomsøen’s Robin Hood Model.

How do we get to the island?
You can take one of SparShipping’s ferries from Nyhavn or travel by a fast boat. Contact booking@ungdomsoen.dk to learn more about sailing times, prices, and to book your trip.
Can we stay overnight on the island?
Yes, you have several options for overnight stays on Ungdomsøen. On the fort’s first floor, you can relax in the newly renovated dormitories with views over the quay. If you prefer a more immersive nature experience, you can book one of our shelters and wake up to the sunrise over the waves of the Sound.
Can I buy a snack?
If you get hungry or thirsty for something small or sweet, you can purchase snacks and cold refreshments at Ungdomsøen’s kiosk on the quay. The kiosk features a great variety of snacks, beverages and small meals, but no groceries or catering.
Can I bring my own drinks to an event?
It is not allowed to bring your own drinks and beverages to Ungdomsøen. If you book a meeting or any other event at Ungdomsøen, we provide the drinks for you. Or else you can buy drinks in our kiosk on the quay.
Do you have technical equipment and Wi-Fi?
Our rooms are equipped with full AV equipment, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the island. We do not have sound equipment for concerts, but you are welcome to bring it yourselves and our technical staff will help you set-up in your rented facilites.
It can be helpful to enable Wi-Fi calling in your phone’s settings while on the island for better connection.
Is the island accessible for people with physical disabilities?
Large parts of the island are accessible even if you have limited mobility. The island also offers wheelchair-friendly accommodation.

How do I find my way around the island?
If you want to explore the island on your own, you can pick up a map at the kiosk. You can also choose to book a guided tour as part of your visit. On the tour, a young guide with good knowledge of the island will show you around the fort’s 2.5 kilometers of winding tunnels and open green landscapes. You’ll hear about historical details, legendary tales, and get an overview of the island.
Why are Ungsomsøen's prices higher for people over 30?
Ungdomsøen is a platform created and developed by, with, and for young people. To make the island as accessible as possible for young people, there is a difference in pricing. Young people receive a 30% discount on most things that can be purchased or booked on Ungdomsøen. As a company or private group, you help make it possible for many more young people to visit and use the island. This is what we call Ungdomsøen’s Robin Hood Model.
I’ve forgotten something on the island. How can I get it back?
If you leave something behind on Ungdomsøen, it will be placed in the lost-and-found. Contact info@ungdomsoen.dk as soon as you realize you’ve forgotten something. We will check if it has been found and placed in the lost-and-found. If it has, you can either come to Ungdomsøen to collect it or make arrangements with us to pick it up on the mainland at our office.
Can we bring our Soundboks?
To ensure Ungdomsøen is a comfortable place for everyone, you may not bring your own Soundboks or other large speakers. You are, however, welcome to bring a smaller speaker or rent a Soundboks from Ungdomsøen by agreement with our staff.
