Dining on the island

At Ungdomsøen, we have a talented island chef who will treat you to delicious meals made from local, sustainable, and seasonal ingredients. We offer everything from breakfast, homemade cardamom buns, and reimagined smørrebrød to shared dinners, delightful desserts, and cooking classes. When you enjoy a meal on Ungdomsøen, you’re taking a bite of the sustainable future of food.

Catering must be booked no later than 14 days in advance via konference@ungdomsoen.dk.

It is not permitted to bring your own food or beverages to Ungdomsøen. All meals must be ordered through Ungdomsøen, and drinks are either charged according to consumption or can be purchased in our kiosk on the quay.

Part of our vision is to disrupt, challenge, and push the boundaries of how we think and act. This is also reflected in our dining profile, where you’ll experience something different from “the usual dining experience.”

With us, each meal is centered around sustainable production, seasonal ingredients, and keeping our global footprint as small as possible. Together with our skilled island chef, you’ll help shape the new normal for what a meal can be. You could say you’ll quite literally get a taste of our vision for a sustainable future through our food.

A meal at Ungdomsøen combines local production with organic ingredients and the fight against food waste, with a strong focus on vegetables and alternative proteins. All of this ensures that your dining experience is as sustainable as possible—without compromising on taste.

Vi tilbyder

  • Delicious snacks such as fresh fruit, vegetable sticks with hummus, or chocolate-covered dates filled with marzipan
  • Homemade baked goods and desserts such as strawberry parfait with citrus cake or homemade cardamom twirls
  • Vegetarian and reimagined smørrebrød — a slice of rye bread could for example be topped with crushed potatoes with smoked cream cheese or “chicken salad” made with mushrooms and topped with Jerusalem artichoke chips
  • Shared dinners featuring a delicious selection of seasonal ingredients served in several courses. The menu could include confit carrots with roasted nuts, garlic, lemon, and rye bread; baked pumpkin with browned butter and roasted seeds; the island’s sourdough bread; grilled free-range pork with romaine lettuce, wild garlic, mustard cream, and Jerusalem artichokes; and a dessert of poached pear with lemon thyme, white chocolate cream, and lemon crumble
  • There is always an option to purchase additional meat for lunch or fish as the main course for dinner

Ungdomsøens kokkeskole

At Ungdomsøen, you can also challenge yourselves and your teamworking skills with our cooking class. Here, our island chef Thomas will teach you how to prepare delicious meals on a bonfire using green and sustainable ingredients. Together, you’ll create a meal that tastes even better than usual because you made it together.
