LIFE ON THE ISLAND, HISTORY, EXPERIENCE THE ISLAND

On a guided tour of Ungdomsøen, you’ll meet a young guide who knows the island inside and out. They’ll show you Ungdomsøen from their own perspective, share wild stories and real facts from the island’s past as a military fortress, and tell you about their own memories and dreams. Each tour is therefore completely unique — even if you’ve joined one before, you’ll discover something new the next time you visit Ungdomsøen.

DEMOCRACY, COLLABORATION, YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

The Democracy Game is a dialogue-based game designed to strengthen young people’s democratic confidence and courage to take action. Divided into three groups, you’ll build the foundation for the kind of society you dream of living in. What values and rights matter to you? How will you make decisions? How do you celebrate failure? These are some of the questions you’ll explore together through a series of exercises that will also lead you around Ungdomsøen. By the end of the game, your democratic muscles will be well-trained in listening, argumentation, and healthy dialogue. The Democracy Game is for participants aged 14 and above and takes place outdoors.

The activity was developed in collaboration with young people from Ungdomsøen’s volunteering community.

Competition, Activity, Teamwork

Are you ready for battle?! At Ungdomsøen, you have the chance to go to war in an old sea fortress. Two teams compete with laser guns in the fort’s underground tunnels. Find out who has the best aim and which team that can come up with the smartest tactics in an intense game of Capture the Flag. With adrenaline pumping through your body, you’ll explore the fort’s best hiding spots while training your teamwork and collaboration skills. This activity takes place indoors.

HISTORY, COMPETITION, PLAY

Dive into Ungdomsøen’s history as a military fortress through a game of capturing the enemy! You’ll be divided into two teams and must use tactics, teamwork, and speed to take over the opposing base and capture their flag. The game will take you across the island’s terrain while exploring its past as Middelgrundsfortet, with players taking on roles from the army, navy, and air force. Stratego can be played both indoors and outdoors, but wear practical clothing for moving around.

Our Historical Military Stratego was developed in collaboration with young people from Ungdomsøen’s vollunteering community.

MUSIC, SOUND, IMMERSION

Does your band need a place to record your next project? Do you have a podcast idea that you want to bring to life? Or do you just need a place to immerse yourself in sound? The music studio is open to all young people — completely free of charge.

WATER ACTIVITY, THE HARBOR, NATURE

Experience Ungdomsøen’s harbor from the water in one of our kayaks. We offer both sea kayaks and sit-on-top kayaks, suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Kayaks can be used within Ungdomsøen’s harbor at your own risk. You must be over 18 years old to rent a kayak at Ungdomsøen.

Number of kayaks: 6 sea kayaks and 6 sit-on-top kayaks

Price per person: DKK 125 per kayak for young people under 31 years / DKK 185 for adults over 31 years. The price includes one hour of kayak rental.

Remember your swimwear when visiting Ungdomsøen! On the west side of the island, we have our own small, lovely sandy beach. Here you can sunbathe, build sandcastles, race your friends in the water, or dive off our diving platform. This area of the harbor also has the least boat traffic and is therefore safe for swimming. Ungdomsøen does not have lifeguards on duty, but life rings and illuminated rescue paths are placed along the harbor. Swimming in the harbor is at your own risk.

WATER ACTIVITY, THE HARBOR, NATURE

Test your balance and skills on unstable surfaces with Ungdomsøen’s stand-up paddleboards. They are suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers, as long as you’re not afraid of getting wet. Use of the paddleboards is at your own risk and is only allowed within Ungdomsøen’s harbor. You must be over 18 years old to rent a paddleboard.

Number of paddleboards: Four

Price per person: DKK 125 per board for young people under 31 years / DKK 185 for adults over 31 years. The price includes one hour of rental.

Paddleboards are rented at the kiosk.

COMMUNITY, NATURE, COMPETITION

Enjoy Ungdomsøen’s green areas with our outdoor garden games. At the kiosk, you’ll find games such as Kubb, giant Jenga, and croquet. These games are perfect for enjoying a sunny day at Ungdomsøen with friends or family.

Garden games can be borrowed for free at the kiosk, where you can also check which games are available.

NATURE, COMMUNITY, RELAXATION

Feel the heat from the flames, warm up your heart and get to know each other through your best campfire jokes and stories. You can light a fire just for coziness or to cook a bonfire dinner. Once you’ve found the perfect spot for your campfire, you can rent smaller, mobile fire pits that can be placed anywhere on the island. Firewood can be purchased at the kiosk, where you can also rent fire pits or a bonfire cooking kit with equipment for cooking over fire.

EXPLORE THE ISLAND, COMMUNITY, CREATIVITY

Discover Ungdomsøen and find the best selfie spots as our photo hunt guides you to the island’s hidden corners and most beautiful locations. You can use the photo hunt as an alternative self-guided tour or challenge each other in a creative competition. You’ll be given photo tasks both indoors and outdoors, and by the end of the activity, your camera roll will be full of great island memories.

The photo hunt is free, and you facilitate the activity yourself.

Want to get to know each other a little better? This island tour is perfect for you! This is a dialogue-based walk-and-talk inspired activity suited for all ages. During the tour, you’ll be asked a series of questions designed to reveal new sides of each other. By the end of the tour, you’ll have learned more about one another in a fun and unique way. The island tour takes place outdoors.

Do you enjoy sharing your viewpoint in a debate? If so, this island tour is perfect for you and your friends! The tour is a dialogue-based walk-and-talk inspired activity. The tour encourages discussion about how young people can gain more power and democratic influence. You’ll be guided around the island’s terrain and invited to take part in concrete debates. The activity challenges the way you usually discuss topics and lets you experience debating in a new and different way. The tour takes place outdoors.

On this island tour, you’ll get to know each other through a variety of questions. You’ll be guided around Ungdomsøen, and at different stops, you’ll be presented with a new question to discuss. You’ll train your listening skills and be encouraged to debate various topics in fun and creative ways, with a focus on respectful dialogue. The goal isn’t about who is “right,” but that everyone learns something new and gains insights about each other!

Explore the island’s library, curated and filled with literature chosen by young people. The Library is open for everyone to use, and it also works as a great hangout on a rainy day and a cozy space for study groups or board game competitions.
