All Ungdomsøen facilities

Our largest room at Ungdomsøen is located in the middle of the island. The hangar consists of two large compartments connected by three large openings in the dividing wall. The two rooms can be combined for larger events with many participants or divided by a curtain if you want to use the space for different purposes like dinner, meeting, groupwork or an assembly. One side of the hangar is all windows, which give the room a nice light, while screens and projectors are hung on the opposite wall for presentations. The hangar measures 230 m2 and can accommodate up to 200 participants in rows of chairs.

Hangar C has two projectors, two screens and a full speaker sound system.

The unique old rocket workshop, where memories of the island's past as part of Denmark's defense are still visible. The room has direct access to the outdoor terrain at the top of the island on one side and access to the fort's winding underground passages on the other. The room measures 110 m2 and can accommodate up to 90 participants in rows of chairs.

The rocket workshop has two projectors, two screens, a whiteboard and a full speaker sound system.

Ungdomsøen have four identical meeting rooms - that were once the young soldiers dining halls. The dining halls are placed side by side on the ground floor of the fortress, and they all have a large window with a view of the Sound and the offshore wind farm. Every dining room is about 5 x 10m and fits up to 30 people at tables or in rows of chairs. All dining rooms can be equipped with transportable screens, sound systems and flip-overs.

Foodlab is our large common kitchen at the top of the island. It has six working stations and a small industrial kitchen. The kitchen is placed in an old hangar with concrete walls. The kitchen is perfect for cooking dinners for large groups or for fun team activities like our cooking class. The room is 155m2 and fits about 60 people by long tables.

The Artillery Workshop is one of our newest meeting rooms, renovated in 2024. Throughout its history it has had many purposes, amongst others being the repair shop for the military artillery back in the 1950's. The room has a cozy atmosphere with its stripped brick walls, arched ceiling and warm lights. This is the perfect space to host your meeting, workshop or an intimate dinner in rustic settings.

The Artillery Workshop can have up to 90 people in rows of chairs, and it is possible to add a transportable interactive screen with additional speaker sound system.

As the name suggests, this used to be a part of the soldiers daily training on the fortress. Deep inside the fortress you now find this room as a light rectangular meeting place or space for indoor activities. The arched hall has two interactive screens with aditional speaker sound system, it is spacious with about 5 x 20m and it fits up to 100 people in rows of chairs.

The small gym is connected by double doors to the big gym and is therefore a perfect group- or break-out room. The small gym is also a great space for smaller intimate meetings or dinners. The small gym has one interactive screen with additional speaker soundsystem, it is about 5 x 10m and fits up to 42 people in rows of chairs.

The amphitheater is built in the largest remaining cannon emplacement on the island. With a campfire in the center and seating for up to 200 people, the amphitheater is ideal for larger gatherings. You are fairly protected from the wind in the amphitheater and can gather for workshops, evaluations, presentations, concerts or campfire fun, with an amazing view of the Sound and the offshore wind farm.

Our historic cannon emplacements serve as unique spots for your team activities, workshops, dancefloor, campfire site or something entirely different. They create a very special isolated room for you to dive into your community together, while life around the rest of the island continue.

There are several big as well as small and intimate cannon emplacement spaces around the entire island. They are free to use by all guests on the island.

Wake up to the sound of the ocean in one of our dormitories. From the wooden platform by the window, you have the perfect view of the habour and Copenhagen.

Back in the day up to 40 soldiers used to sleep in hammocks in these dorms. Today they have been given a caring renovation, while still maintaining their history, as you might sense within their walls.

We have 15 dormitories with room for 2, 4, 8 or 10 people, a total of 124 indoor either single beds or bunk beds.

Spend the night in the old military dormitories, which previously held up to 40 soldiers in sleeping hammocks. The newly renovated dorms house up to 10 people in bunk beds with duvets and pillows. Each dorm has two showers and a toilet. The dorms have an amazing view of the harbour and the Copenhagen skyline from their indoor resting platforms, which were built by our young engaged volunteers.

The fortress has nine 10-persons dormitories on the first floor. All dorms have key fobs which will be handed to you when you check in. It is possible to rent a package of bed linen and towels if you don't want to bring your own.

This dorm has room for 10 people. You can either book a bed in the dorm as you would in a hostel, or you can book the entire dorm to make sure you have the space to yourself.

Price per person: 175 DKK for young people / 250 DKK for people over 31 years.

Price per dorm: 1200 DKK for groups of young people/ 1700 DKK for families, adult groups or business guests.

The newly renovated dorms house up to 8 people in bunk beds and regular beds with duvets and pillows. Each dorm has its own bathroom with two showers and a toilet and an entrance with storage room.

The fortress has three 8-persons dormitories on the ground floor. All dorms have key fobs which will be handed to you when you check in. It is possible to rent a package of bed linen and towels if you don't want to bring your own.

You can either book a bed in the dorm as you would in a hostel, or you can book the entire dorm to make sure you have the space to yourself.

Price per person: 175 DKK for young people / 250 DKK for people over 31 years.

Price per dorm: 1100 DKK for groups of young people/ 1600 DKK for families, adult groups or business guests.

Wake up to the sound of waves and the view of the ocean in the newly renovated dorms on the ground floor of the fortress. The dorms house 4 people in single beds with duvets and pillows. The dorms have a ramp and a large bathroom with a toilet support frame to accommodate wheelchair-users.

The dorms have key fobs which will be handed to you when you check in. It is possible to rent a package of bed linen and towels if you don't want to bring your own.

This dorm has room for 4 people. You can either book a bed in the dorm as you would in a hostel, or you can book the entire dorm to make sure you have the space to yourself.

Price per person: 175 DKK for young people / 250 DKK for people over 31 years.

Price per dorm: 850 DKK for groups of young people/ 1200 DKK for families, adult groups or business guests.

Our shelters are built underneath the old rocket launch platforms, which now serve as cover above the shelter. The shelters are designed and built by the young and engaged volunteers of Ungdomsøen. They designed the shelters with shudders on all sides to protect you from the wind, no matter its direction. Morover you find a power outlet in the shelter and each shelter also has its own firepit with a grill grate. The shelters are placed all over the island, each one facing a different direction. From one you'll wake up to the sunrise over Swedish Malmø in east and from another you'll fall asleep to the sunset over Copenhagen in west.

We advise that you bring your own personal outdoor sleeping equipment, but if you forget something, it is possible to rent sleeping mats, sleeping bags and buy firewood in the kiosk.

Ungdomsøen has six shelters. They fit 8-10 people depending on how close you feel comfortable sleeping next to each other. You can either book a single spot in a shared shelter or you can book an entire shelter, if you want to make sure to have the space to yourselves.

Price per person: 120 DKK for young people and 175 DKK for people above 31 years.

Price per shelter: 660 DKK for groups of young people and 950 DKK for families, adult groups or business guests.

Our campsite fits more than 600 people, and you can therefore easily rent space for yourselves and your tent. At the campsite you also find our free outdoor kitchens, as well as toilet and bath facilities. The campsite has oceanview of the Sound no matter where you place your tent.

We advise you to bring your own tent and sleeping equipment, but it is possible to rent a tent, sleeping mat or sleeping bag in case your forget your own.

Space at our campsite is paid per person.

If you arrive at Ungdomsøen in your own boat it is possible for you to stay overnight. Remember to give notice of your arrival and stay in our kiosk. This is also where adults above 31 years of age pay the harbour fee of 70 DKK. There is no harbour fee for young people when visiting Ungdomsøen in your own boat.

Booking: It is not possible to pre-book a spot in our harbour, but we rarely have any issues with space. Drop by our harbour and dock your boat next to other recreational sailors.
